Room Acoustical Design
In order to create the optimum
acoustical environment, AT Company room acousticians work
with his clients from the earliest stage of definitive
programming to elucidate the needs and functions that
the facility will serve. Acoustical goals are then set,
including both measurable characteristics, such as reverberation
time insulation index DI e.t.c.
Once goals are defined, AT Company works closely with
the architect and client to determine the shape of the
facility. This is followed by more detailed collaboration
involving schematic designs and the selection of building
materials.
Computer simulation and scale models are employed at these
and other stages. AT Company is increasingly using new
computer simulation techniques to predict acoustical characteristics
of differing room shape configurations accurately and
efficiently.
AT Company continues to participate, in a supervisory
capacity, during the actual on-site building construction.
Our room acoustical designs incorporate means of adjusting
and fine-tuning acoustical properties of the new structure
- within budget requirements - during the final construction
stages.
After construction is completed, AT Company not only measures
and analyzes the actual acoustical characteristics achieved
but also listens carefully to musicians' impressions and
comments. Our room acousticians fine-tune the acoustical
environment and provide user orientation to ensure client
satisfaction. |

Sound Insulation and Noise Control
The achievement of a quiet environment
is a prerequisite for creating the ideal acoustical environment
for a concert hall or other facility. At AT Company, we
have two categories of objectives:
1) the achievement of sound insulation - isolating a facility
from external sounds and vibrations (such as adjacent
traffic and subways), and from other activity spaces within
the structure; and
2) the control of noise created within the structure by
ventilation systems and other mechanical apparatus.
Our work begins at the planning stage by measuring the
noise and vibrations from the surrounding environment
of the chosen site. We then design and work with the architect
to achieve design solutions that integrate well with the
positive room acoustical design of the facility. During
the construction phase, we carry out on-site inspections
and measure noise and vibration levels to insure correct
design implementation. |

Audio System Design
Audio system design is
a highly specialized aspect of acoustical design. Electrical
amplification, public address systems, sound recording
and simultaneous translation equipment must be designed
and incorporated to meet clearly defined needs, while
at the same time giving due consideration to the total
acoustical properties of the project structure. Provision
must also be made for the rapid and ongoing advances in
sound and visual equipment technology.
The AT Company audio system design process parallels our
other acoustical design work, starting with careful programming
and defining of objectives, budget and user's operational
staff. This is followed by supplier selection and consideration
of the grade of equipment to be installed. AT Company
designs the system plan, prepares the implementation budget,
consults directly with the architect and construction
firm to insure proper and economical installation, tests
the equipment both before and post installation, and provides
user orientation. Our experience covers both the design
of audio systems to supplement room acoustics and studios
designed essentially for recording and other electro-acoustic
purposes. |
